About
Gene Christopher began studying photography in High School under his mentor and teacher Jennifer Maio. Initially trained in black and white photography, Gene Christopher excelled in traditional film processing and enlarging prints, spending many hours within the sanctum of his darkroom and studio. He quickly learned the basics of digital graphics and photography after being gifted a Digital SLR camera for his 16th birthday.
His creative roots were fostered by his masterfully artistic late mother, Christa. With this as his inspiration, Gene Christopher expanded his breadth of photography skillsets to include event photography, experimental digital manipulation, and photojournalism. He was quickly elevated to the position of head photographer for the Centereach High School student newspaper, Crosscurrents. In his senior year, he held the title of Treasurer of the Photography Club and President of the National Art Honor Society – Centereach High School Chapter. He was honored with a local scholarship for achievements in fine art at his graduation.
In his late teens, Gene Christopher took on photography gigs in conjunction with his artistic endeavors. These included event photography for Conventions, Cosplay, Parties, Weddings, and most interestingly, as a photographer for a Live Action Role Playing group in New Jersey where he captured epic scenes of sword and sorcery. Gene Christopher has served two years as a staff photographer for the I-Con fantasy and science fiction convention based out of SUNY Stony Brook, including one year as Track Leader of Photography.
Gene Christopher embraces the craft of photography as an eternal student. Whether for his clients or pleasure, Gene Christopher strives to find the balance between three key pillars; artistic integrity, journalistic awareness, and the drive to always learn something new.
